The $275 Billion Mortgage Stimulus Package – February 2009 $200 billion – more help for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac** $75 billion – direct assistance to homeowners in distress
*This is in addition to the $178 billion economic stimulus package the Bush Administration handed out in 2008, in the form of tax rebate checks, or stimulus payments, as they came to be known.
